Our story
Odd Tveit, our main owner had a wish to improve the standard of surface diving operations.
After more than 30 years experience in the diving industry, he believed customers too often were unable to monitor the quality, safety and what was really going on “under the surface” in the same way as they do in large offshore diving operations. His vision was to develop a company suited to handle complex operations at shallow depths with the highest level of safety.
Together with his youngest son Odd Are Tveit, and Per Knutsen, a saturation diver, he established what is known as Otech Marine Services.
The company logo was designed to visualize quality and expertise. The recognized diver’s helmet represent high standard of equipment, and the characteristic “H” is meant to represent a rig with a submerged structure.
In the first years the company generated its income from thruster replacement operations offshore in Mexico, and thru maintenance on saturation/ diving systems.
Frequent trips to semi submersible rigs such as Safe Lancia, Safe Regency and Safe Britannia, enabled the company to invest in high standard equipment and develop advanced procedures for thruster replacements and other operations.
Although the company was based in Norway it took more than two years before the company was given a project in Norwegian waters. The rig this time was Ocean Vanguard and the project was a great success.
In the third year Otech Marine Services was introduced to the Ramform seismic vessels, and has been involved in thruster replacements, mechanical operations and rigging onboard these vessels since.
Each project from this time has been as different as the customers themselves. They vary from mechanical operations, technical assistance, consulting and advanced diving operations to minor diving and inspections outside our own door.
After thousands of dives and work hours we are still without injuries to personnel, and for this we are proud. We sincerely believe we have made a difference.
